The STX Shield uses C-Channel technology to increase strength and stiffness especially in the top and bottom side rails. Previous goalie heads on occasion would fail against high velocity shots that hit top scoop forcing the head to bend backward and allow goals.

The STX Shield has been designed to have increased torsional rigidity in the sidewalls. This prevents the sidewall from warping and bending backward when facing heavy shots. The effective saving area of the shield is ultimately greater by stiffening the side rails and allowing you to utilize the entire face of the head to save shots.
